The software development community has thought for decades that Agile founding principles belonged to them-and them alone. The study of the Agile movement in most examinations of this hypothesis would tend to agree. A fair analysis, however, would not just accept the hypothesis as true but look for evidence to the contrary.
Just such a contradictory example exists in the Aviation world 56 years in the past. This presentation will identify the founding principles of Agile and show how those same principles were applied in the development of Boeing 747. After all, Project Management as a discipline has been around for thousands of years…. It stands to reason that fundamentals of the profession may have been used before our time.
There are many Agile lessons to learn from Joe Sutter’s experience as the Engineering manager for the 747. This talk is intended to incite and excite a sense of energy and what is possible even in the face of the near-impossible.
